To be able to not waste dead keyboards, 3 to be exact (Ortek, 6311 & KB-101A, I built this 60%. Currently, this is my most expensive keyboard and look me the longest to assemble; from August 25, 2016 up to time this was posted since I am still trying to fix the switches.
Parts: Hasu's Alps64 PCB and FR-4 (non-steel) plate; generic 60% plastic case; keycaps from 3 other vintage clone Alps boards; blue Alps from KB-101A (see donor here).
I think my PCB is signed by Hasu...
The switches does not firmly hold on to the plate causing the plate to fall. A thick shielded wire was sandwiched between the plate and PCD was my fix as shown in the top photo.
In spite of heavy cleaning, I could not complete this board with good switches. I still have at least 5 keys that stater. Swapping switch leaves do help but does not last long.
Finish Line Extreme Flouro removes the scratchiness in the switches. A very small amount applied inside the top covers where the stem slides.
The above layout was changed. It seemed that I need Home and End more when I use the arrow keys. Home was moved to "H" and End was moved to ";". Prt SCr, Scr Lk & Ins was moved further.
