I got my hands on some Pro Micro microcontrollers with Type-C USB port to see how big is the difference based on the the photos posted online. The comparison is between conventional one, Pro Micro with Type-C, and a clone with mid-mount USB Type C port.

Photo on top shows that the one with Type-C port is longer/extended from the top by at least 2mm. |

From this view, Type-C is thicker by at least a mm. |

Mid-mount USB port should have made this controller thinner. |

The thick USB port and the extension makes this version not suitable for PCB designed for conventional Pro Micro facing back of PCB.
